SWmud Player Email Policy

Because of the rule against multiple characters per player, we require that you supply a correct email address to keep your account. If you are found without an email address or an incorrect one, you will be removed from the game without question and your site will be put on our suspect list. We understand that some people play on shared account. If this is the case, you must mail Law and explain your situation.

Q: What is a valid email address?
A: Any email from a valid Internet Provider which is not a web based/ Freemail address will be considered valid. Some emails which are _NOT_ valid include:

Angelfire Geocities Gmail Hotmail MSN Ragemail Yahoo

Q: Why Are these addresses invalid?
A: Because they are web based/Freemail addresses. A person can have multiple email accounts and use them to create multiple characters, thus breaking the rule against having more then one character per person.

Q: So what address should I be using instead?
A: You should use the email address provided by your ISP.

Q: What if someone else uses that email address?
A: List both your personal email address and your real ISP address in your 'chfn' info (ie. billysmom@myisp.com / billy_everyteen@freemail.com).

Q: What can I do if I have no other email but freemail?
A: You will have to mail law with a very good reason as to why you do not have a valid email address. Remember, it's better for you to go to Law than to wait for Law to come to you. Law wizards get cranky when they have to yank people out of play for things like this.

Q: Do you ever check these emails?
A: Once in a while, Law will take a small sampling of the playerbase (say, everyone logged in at a specific time when a Law wizard is bored) and send verification email to their addresses. This is very rare and the email is as unintrusive as possible.

Q: What happens then?
A: We wait to see whose emails are invalid and jail/rid them on the spot. Then we wait for the verification returns. If we don't hear anything in a few days, we assume the email is bogus and take appropriate action.

Q: What if I have more questions than the ones you have here?
A: mail law and we will try to answer your question as soon as possible.

Q: How do I mail law?
A: Just address your mudmail to law: type mail law at the prompt. For more information, please read the mail file. You may also use the Law Contact form on this website.

Q: How do I change the email address for my character?
A: Use the 'chfn' command.
